The 2009 Legislative session was described by many as the toughest Nevada has ever seen. As a freshman legislator, it was a fascinating process. Due to the dire state of Nevada's economy and the extreme budget shortfalls, it was a very serious session and overall, a humbling experience. In an end-of-session Las Vegas Review Journal poll of legislators, journalists and lobbyists, I was honored to have been rated the highest freshman State Senator.
